# Can I pay off the credit earlier than stated in the contract?

Yes, you can **pay off your car credit earlier** than the stated term with Gowago. This is known as making an **early repayment** or **prepayment**. It allows you to reduce the overall interest costs by paying off the loan before the scheduled end date.

With a private car credit with Gowago, this does not incur any penalty fees or additional costs for you. Additionally, you do not pay the interest on the remaining amount of the credit you are repaying.

**Example:**

Let’s say you took out a car credit for **CHF 20,000**. Over the past months or years, you’ve already paid off **CHF 12,000**, leaving you with a remaining balance of **CHF 8,000** (excluding interest).

**If you continue paying off the CHF 8,000 in monthly installments, you would pay interest on those installments.**

**However, if you decide to pay off the remaining CHF 8,000 in one lump sum, you will avoid paying the interest that would have been charged over the remaining credit period.**

However, you cannot pay off part of the remaining credit, but you have to pay the entirety of the outstanding amount.
